This past weekend, my youngest daughter and I took off on a day trip in the Flint Hills to visit a group of ladies who had read my book. It is next to impossible for me to drive all that way and not make a detour on one of the many meandering side roads--dirt roads, sometimes narrow, very rocky, and that may pass through running water--but oh, the views are spectacular!
Warning--do not drive these roads unless you have a vehicle with a good set of 16-ply tires . . . and 4-wheel drive wouldn't hurt, either.
I especially enjoyed getting some "research pictures" for the book I'm writing now, Blades of Autumn, book 3 in the Seasons of the Tallgrass. Many people will argue that spring is the best time to view the hills, but I think every season is perfect.
